Harry Potter, fic-related. Pairings etc. Somewhat irrelevant to Sorting, but still. General discussion.

RANT.
Harry and Lucius are taboo because of the age difference, but it really does work. They are complete opposites, its amazing and exquisite.
..child/adult; man/boy; robust/slender; brave, obstinate/subtle; white-blonde/black and so on. Opposites are opposites because they share the trait of a single concept. Like, hot and cold share the idea of temperature, describe temperature; good and evil share the concept of morality. Pain and pleasure describe the idea of sensation.
So, they are just two extremes of the same thing, and that in mind, they can be incredibly similar. In terms of Harry and Lucius, they have a lot to teach each other.
And of course, they are the ultimate example of the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Harry sort of embodies the bravery and stubbornness, and “daring nerve and chivalry” that Gryffindors possess; and Lucius embodies the subtlety and arrogance that Slytherins exhibit. Its perfect.

And Sirius and Remus. Ahh! They just ARE. A la Shoebox. Simply because of the adorableness, Moony is all shy and reserved and things, and Sirius is so wild and comfortable with himself, somewhat arrogant and charming and things. But he’s lovely really. And friendship deepens and its so lovely and oh yay. I’ve liked this pairing long before I discovered Shoebox, but Shoebox is hilarious and fantastic, but also amazingly right, and also the darker and more serious moments are portrayed very well aswell. Perfect characterisation.

Ah now, Tom and Ginny. This is where it gets ever so interesting. The whole thing with the Chamber and the diary, her pouring her soul into him, is poetic and wonderful. Serpent symbolism, and Ginny sort of reminds me of Ophelia a little bit.
Ideas of possession and power. Potent soul binding. Her growing fainter and more fragile, as he slowly regains vitality, life-force. Ah it is poetic and amazing.
Ah now, Bellatrix and Ginny. I love this pairing.
Venturing into darker corners of it all, the domination that Bella exerts over innocent Ginny is fantastic. I will not go into detail. Quite apart from the raw sexuality of the pairing, it is beautiful on a poetic level too. Ginevra’s hair is like amber fire, she is pale skin and innocence. Ginevra, like Harry, also possesses that burning sanguine Gryffindor obstinacy, and that bravery of the spirit; that Bella just loves to shatter.

I added you to my F list, I hope you don't mind, tell me if you do =) I love your point though. I like Harry and Severus ;) I think the love/hate thing with Harry's parents and Snape work with the whole he loved Lily but hated James and in Harry he sees how much he looks like James who he hated but he had the eyes of the woman that he loved etc. etc.

Fantasy pairings are the best!

No I dont mind at all! =]
Hmmm, OH I do like Severus/Harry aswell, I read the most wonderful epicly long fic called If You Are Prepared by Cybele.
Oh my god. Just. Uh <3
Its beautiful. Epic. Amazing. If you like S/H, then READ IT PLEASE!
Anyway yes ahem.
Oh I read this WELL annoying fic with dom!Harry. I hate thay =\
So OoC. Fail. Uergh. Anyway! Yes.
I think its quite fantastic, the way Rowling set that up. What I think, is that Snape gets a sort of masochistic thrill from seeing Harry, because you know, it must really wrench at the most vulnerable of his heartstrings, to see James embodied in Harry, but still have the innermost heart of the woman he loves. His greatest love and his greatest rival in the same entity. Wow. Dual pleasure/pain, or what? Resentment, envy and spite flare whenever he sees the effigy of James, but he is vulnerable and weak in his emotion when he sees that he has Lily's eyes. And thats what makes it so impossible for him I think..
Anyway, wow rant.

OMG I read that fic in my summer holidays last year and I can honestly say that I have NEVER cried at a fic until then. I was choked up all the way through, especially the last bit I always remember when Snape felt one tear leave his eye but he refused to believe that's what he was. I've started reading it again and it's just as wonderful second time round.

I think the pleausre and pain he has when he sees Harry embodies everything that JKR was trying to express in him; the pain he is put through and positions he is so unwillingly put in. I know she didn't mean it as a fantasy pairing but the plot of the story just fits in so well with the pairing that you can't help but love the fic ;) ITA though, I HATE dom!Harry, it's terrible!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! YAY.
Its so so so just ahhh <3
Hm well I wouldnt say unwillingly put in. Isnt the point that Snape does all of this WILLINGLY, thereby showing how much he loved Lily?
Ah anyway.
Yes, it just fits so well!
And dom!Harry is disgusting and foul ahahahaha. Just. WRONG I tell you. Snape has the power because he is both an adult AND a teacher. Superior in alot ways, and submission is Harry's rightful place.
I mean, ahem. Ahahahaha getting into character abit there :D
Yay for total agreements and harmony and things.

Weeeeeeeeeeell. With Tom/Ginny we're not talking about LOVE are we? :D
I personally dont like 'oh-look-the-dark-male-character-finds-
his- true-love' fics because they bore me. Im talking about the idea of ultimate power and control over another human being, the way he feeds off her soul. Its all very fascinating and obviously has a propensity for kinkfic what with the power and control thing going on ahaha.
Ohh and Sirius/Remus. :DDDDDDD Yay yes. hadjaaaagja. Just yes. Ahem anyway :D
Huhm well H/D is allriiiigghtt, but in my opinion there is something wonderful about the Luciusness. And H/D is very cliched [but I guess, just because somethings cliched doesnt automatically make it bad] I guess its just been done too much.

What really? But his whole philosophy is that 'there is no good and evil only POWER and those to weak to seek it' and so on.
Im sure he'd love power over her. Weeell hmmm perhaps he wouldnt be satisfied with JUST having power over her, he'd want power over the people as in, like everyone in a general sense. LORD and all that.
Ah well anyway :D
Each to their own as they say.
